The most common question we hear is simple: will it hurt? The honest answer — far less than most people expect. Here's what FUE actually feels like.
During the procedure
FUE is done under local anesthetic, so you're awake but comfortable. The only real discomfort is the small numbing injections at the start; after that, the area is numb and most patients read, watch a movie or nap through the session.
The first few days
Expect mild tenderness and tightness, similar to a sunburn, for 2–3 days. Tiny dot scabs form at each graft site and flake off within about a week. Over-the-counter pain relief is usually all that's needed.
Tips for an easy recovery
- +Sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights.
- +Avoid strenuous exercise for about a week.
- +Follow your aftercare washing instructions exactly.
Because we're local in New York, follow-ups and any questions are handled in person — not ten time zones away.
