FUE from $5,999 · 0% financing · Central Park South

The first week

Days 1–3: mild tenderness and tiny scabs at each graft — like a light sunburn. Days 4–7: scabs flake away with gentle washing. Most people return to desk work within a few days.

Dos and don’ts

  • +Sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights
  • +Follow the washing routine exactly
  • +Avoid heavy exercise, sweat and sun for ~1–2 weeks
  • +No hats that rub the grafts early on

What happens next

Around weeks 2–4 the transplanted hairs shed — totally normal. New growth starts at month 3–4 and reaches full density by 12–15 months. Because we’re local, your follow-ups are in person. See the full month-by-month timeline.

Week by week, in detail

Here’s the realistic timeline most patients follow:

  • +Days 1–3: tightness and tiny scabs at each graft; any forehead swelling peaks now and settles fast
  • +Days 4–7: gentle daily washing loosens the scabs; redness fades and most return to work
  • +Weeks 2–4: the transplanted hairs shed — expected and temporary, not a failure
  • +Months 3–4: new growth begins, fine and patchy at first
  • +Months 6–12: hairs thicken and fill in
  • +Months 12–15: final density and texture settle

Protecting your result

The grafts are most vulnerable in the first two weeks. Sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights, keep the area out of direct sun and away from sweat and pools for a week or two, skip tight hats early on, and follow the washing routine exactly as shown. Avoid smoking around the procedure, since it constricts blood flow to healing grafts. None of it is difficult — it’s mostly patience, and because we’re local, anything you’re unsure about is a quick call or visit away.
